As seen on  Sprinkles & Sundresses!

Recently, I’ve noticed that making updates to my wardrobe doesn’t have to be the expensive endeavor it sometimes ends up being. It seems like making plans and sticking to them is a common theme in the life of a twenty-something and it holds true for shopping too!

These are the shades of the season. They’re cool, classic and versatile with almost any look in your closet. They’ve been around since 1952 and originally were made to look masculine. Thanks to Audrey Hepburn’s take on them in Breakfast at Tiffany’s, these sunglasses are forever cemented as a staple.

Ankle booties

As my fashion guru, Nina Garcia, says, “The ankle boot was originally intended to be hidden beneath classic trousers. Ankle boots with skirts? Unthinkable!” Now it seems crazy to not pair an attention-getting pair of these shoes with cut-offs, dark wash jeans or a sundress.

There’s nothing more chic than just the slightest bit of sparkle paired with something casual or conservative. I like bangles because they’re easy to match and add some quick glam to outfits I need to dress-up at the last minute. Some of my favorites are gold and bakelite that I’ve collected but I have a Cartier knock-off that I constantly get compliments on. Start collecting some favorites and you can check this off your list of must-haves!

I love this number because it’s about as loose and flowy as you can get for summer wear and it flatters every body. To be truly authentic, I’d try flea markets and Moroccan ethnic stores where the beading and embroidery can’t be beat. Wear it with a bold set of beads, in some strappy flat sandals or over your swimsuit and you’ll never think twice about packing sundresses or tee shirts for your beach vacation.

Driving shoe

Last but not least, the driving shoe is one of the most luxurious things you can own. A shoe just to drive (and look fabulous) in?! You must think I’m insane but when you realize how comfortable and easy it is to pair these shoes with everything from jeans to workwear, you’ll be glad you stumbled across this little known secret of the footwear world.
