Lately, I’ve been really into prints. Chevron, Plaid, Tribal…you name it. They’re a really fun way to add color to your wardrobe without needing to pile on layers or accessories.

I don’t think it’s any big secret that I love clothes. My favorite clothes are the kind that are versatile but don’t sacrifice style or sophistication. That being said, it’s only natural that my favorite print would be something that is perfectly appropriate for day or night. Enter, polka dots.
I’m not really sure how it happened but it seems like every time I turn around, something catches my eye and it is covered in dots. If it’s a wearable item I try to adhere to a few rules; 1) Keep it minimal. Limit your print to one piece in your outfit. Keeping the rest of your outfit plain will help the print to stand out. 2) Start out by practicing with accessories. A phone case, clutch or belt is a clever way to test out your favorite print without committing 100%. 3) Make sure they fit. The best way to ensure you’re looking polished is to make sure that what you’re wearing looks tailored. (Fake it until you make it or get it tailored.)
Another thing to keep in mind is that size does matter, ESPECIALLY when it comes to prints. Larger prints will make you look bigger and small prints, well, you get it. It’s one of the many times a mathematical concept comes into play with fashion and geometry is obviously key when playing with prints on any kind of frame.
The last thing I’m going to say about this adorable little print is that it goes with just about everything. Jeans, skirts, corduroy, dresses…there’s almost nothing that wouldn’t look perfectly professional or casual with a little polka dot thrown in. And on the days you’re just not sure, there’s plenty of polka dot on cozy wraps this season. Check out some of my picks below:
