As is customary on most Monday holidays, I spent the morning in my pajamas and played in my closet. It was the perfect day to assess what pieces will carry me into fall as the temperature drops without needing to completely re-up on stylish components.

On any given weekend, I’m with my family, grabbing coffee, running errands or meeting up with friends. From morning to night and shoes to hats, there’s no telling what kind of outfit I’ll put together.

Trains are late, traffic is inevitable and weather can be obnoxious. Commuting to work can be a real drag but if you’re prepared, it can be less so. My mornings consist of a ride on a train, changing to the subway and walking up a hill so when things go awry (which, in the city, can be quite often) it is nice to have supplies on hand that put me in my happy place.

For those of you who know me, last week was a v e r y long week for me at work. Two nights in a row, I exceeded the regular ol’ 9-to-5 schedule by at least 5 hours and by the time Friday rolled around, I was ready to have a relaxing weekend of lazy mornings, cups of tea and getting creative. We’re now almost through the first month of the new year and already I feel pretty good about my ability to keep my resolutions this year. I’ve been great about drinking more water, eating healthy, and spending more time with my family. I’ve been good about making sure I eat breakfast every morning, “living” a little more, and finding time to exercise. I’m going to work on managing my time better so that I’m less likely to procrastinate important tasks, drinking less coffee and cutting out snacks that do more harm than good.
In addition to these things, I want to work on purging things from my closet I don’t really wear and make room for things that are chic, versatile and sophisticated. Below I’ve rounded up some of the items on my wish list for when I’m able to do some early sartorial spring cleaning.
Which of these items are your favorite? Which of these items do you own? Do you recommend a certain product or brand for me to try this year? Comment on below, on Facebook or tweet me at @vanessainboston. I look forward to hearing from you!
